Wellness Center
Our Wellness Center, located in Brenham, provides services and screenings aimed at improving the health and well-being citizens in a seven-county area. Most services can be brought directly to your business, congregation or community. The Wellness Center's programs have been recognized by American Hospital Association, Texas Hospital Association and Catholic Health Association of Texas.
Health Fairs
The centerpiece of our Wellness Program is a comprehensive Health Fair provided onsite at area businesses, churches and civic organizations. They are offered annually for the communities of Burton, Bellville, Carmine and Industry and quarterly in Brenham. They are also conducted annually for students in the Burton and Round Top/Carmine school districts.
Health Fairs include a health risk appraisal and screenings (complete blood count, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, hemoglobin, glucose, blood pressure and pulse, weight, grip strength and a step fit test). Optional services include: Td boosters, Tdap immunizations, TSH (thyroid screening), and PSA (prostate cancer screening). Results are plugged into the health risk appraisal, and a confidential, computerized report is produced for each individual.
Flu Shots
Each fall, flu shots are provided on site for area businesses that contract with the Wellness Center. Flu shots may also be available in limited quantities for the public.
Kids Day and Seniors Day
Kids Day and Seniors Day are two special events that provide free screenings, immunizations, activities, information and entertainment for the respective age groups involved. Scott & White Hospital - Brenham works in partnership with over 70 area agencies, healthcare providers and businesses to provide each event.
Diabetes Center
Scott & White Hospital - Brenham's American Diabetes Association-recognized Diabetes Center offers a variety of resources for area diabetics including one-on-one education, group classes and a diabetes refresher class. The Center is coordinated by a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Most services are covered by Medicare and health insurance.
- The Diabetes Refresher and Support Group meets every Tuesday at 5:30 pm. This includes English-speaking and Spanish-speaking groups.
Educational Programs
Educational offerings include: Healthy Living Series, Freedom From Smoking courses and Chronic Disease Self Management classes.
CURRENT OFFERINGS:
- MATTER OF BALANCE: This eight-week series meets each quarter and is designed to improve activity levels among older adults by managing concerns about falling. The free program includes: eight classes presented by trained coaches, two instructional videos, exercises to improve strength and coordination, and a home safety evaluation.
