BENEFITS OF DIGITAL MAMMOGRAPHY
Approximately 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, but research has proven that early detection is truly our best defense against this disease. Mammography is our best resource for early detection, and digital mammography is the gold standard in mammography technology today. We are excited to make this leading-edge technology available to our community. Benefits include:

  • Faster Exam Times
  • Less Patient Exposure due to Reduced Radiation Dose
  • Better Imaging Quality and Improved Visibility
  • Improved Accuracy in Diagnosis
  • Only Digital Unit Available in Washington or Austin County
Community members utilizing the Scott & White Healthcare Imaging Center will be able to save time and energy while also decreasing travel costs. Patients will experience the convenience of staying close to home for care and the comfort of working with people they know and trust.

DEXA: PRESERVING BONE HEALTH
In the United States, over 28 million people are at high risk for osteoporosis. One third of Caucasian women over 50 have osteoporosis with nearly 80% remaining undiagnosed. Bone densitometry is an essential tool in managing bone health and can monitor the effects of age, diet, or treatments on your bone density status.

A full body scan is often called a DEXA, which is short for dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry. This new testing tool will provide our community with the best technology available to monitor and preserve bone health.
