Scholarship Programs
Texas, like the nation is experiencing a shortage of health care professionals, particularly registered nurses and radiology technologists. The marketplace cannot meet current needs and the prognosis for the future is dismal. Within the next 10-15 years Texas will lose a substantial portion of its Registered Nurse workforce through retirement. Therefore nurses and health care professionals are wanted and needed to carry on these vital professions. The growing health care needs of the aging "Baby Boomer" generation are only going to multiply in the near future. Hospitals and others are involved in ongoing efforts to recruit young people and those desiring a career change to health professions.
Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation recognizes the importance of encouraging those that desire to enter the community of health care professionals. Individuals currently working at Scott & White Hospital - Brenham that desire to further their education, as well as individuals within the community that desire to pursue healthcare professions are financially assisted by the Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships facilitate the recipient's desire for education and provide them an opportunity to work in a healthcare field. This enables Scott & White Hospital - Brenham to provide professional services delivered by local individuals and retains their services for our community's benefit and a better health care tomorrow.
Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation Board of Trustees puts a high priority on nurses' education and retention for Scott & White Hospital - Brenham. Each year Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation awards scholarships to applicants in various nursing degrees and radiology technicians. These awards are made possible through gifts to Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation and the scholarship program. Over $172,000 has been awarded through the Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Foundation scholarship program.
Since 1998, annual scholarships have been given in memory of Sister Mary Ephrem Sliwinski to honor of her years of dedication and service as a registered nurse.
