Scholarships

Scott & White Hospital - Brenham recognizes the importance of encouraging those that desire to enter the community of health care professionals. Individuals currently working at Scott & White Hospital - Brenham that desire to further their education, as well as individuals within the community that desire to pursue healthcare professions are financially assisted by the Health Services Foundation Scholarships. These scholarships facilitate the recipient's desire for education and provide them an opportunity to work in a healthcare field. This enables Scott & White Hospital - Brenham to provide professional services delivered by local individuals and retains their services for our community?s benefit and a better health care tomorrow.

Scott & White Hospital - Brenham established the Sister Mary Ephrem Sliwinski Memorial Scholarship Program in 1998 to honor her memory. Sister Mary Ephrem Sliwinski was a member of the Sisters of St. Francis and a Registered Nurse employed by the former St. Jude Hospital and Trinity Medical Center for 49 years. Her loving spirit and professional guidance touched the hearts of all with whom she served.

Educational scholarships were established by the Ed & Velma Penkert family in January of 2007. These scholarships are in memory of Ed & Velma Penkert honoring their dedication to family, friends and the people of this community, while supporting the future of Scott & White Hospital - Brenham.

High School Student

The Scholarships shall be awarded annually to qualified applicants for the purpose of training healthcare professionals.

Applicants selected to receive scholarships will be required to sign an Educational Assistance and Employment Obligation Agreement. For each year assistance is given, the recipient will be obligated to two (2) years of employment at Scott & White Hospital - Brenham or Care Center.

Applicants shall be judged on the following areas:

• Financial Need
• Aptitude
• Recommendations of teachers and/or personal references
• ACT/SAT scores
• Character and moral integrity
• Participation in civic, church, and extracurricular activities.
